Its brown-orange colouration comes from the self-protecting rust layer that naturally forms over time; once matured, this metal oxide layer is called a patina.
Corten steel is used for welded, bolted and riveted constructions: steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicles and equipment constructions.
